What areas do we cover?

Akita Systems are strategically based in Docklands and provide IT support to hundreds of clients throughout Greater London. Although the majority of our customers are in London, we have long-term relationships with others in Nottingham, Brighton, Northants, Gloucester, Eastbourne and Cyprus! What hours of day do we operate?

As a result of supporting larger organisations and those with more complicated requirements, for the past few years Akita have offered all of our clients genuine 24/7 IT support. This ensures that a dedicated helpdesk is available any time of day, ideal for those companies with round-the-clock operations or offices across different time zones.

How can I test my broadband speed?

There are a number of online tools for this – we recommend using speedtest.net.

Why is my computer slow?

It depends on what it is doing whilst running slowly – it could be a network issue, a Windows update, a server issue, a memory issue, a virus or a machine in need of some attention. The good news is that Akita can help!

I have a computer system installed by someone else, can Akita help?

Of course, the majority of our clients initially had computer systems installed by third parties. As part of our takeover process, we document what is in place and undertake a detailed audit to ensure that we don’t encounter any nasty surprises!

When can I contact Akita?

I have a mixture of PCs and Macs, can Akita still support me?

I am concerned about putting my data in the cloud, is it safe?

Cloud computing is now common practice and will only continue to grow in popularity due to its lower cost, flexibility, etc. Not only that, cloud computing provides an immediate Disaster Recovery solution, drastically reducing the business risk and exposure to serious problems with IT systems and office infrastructures.

I think I have a virus, what should I do?

There are an increasing number of ways which viruses are spread. The majority, however, are from rogue emails deliberately used to spread them or from corrupt websites. Viruses can work undiscovered for days or weeks, gradually encrypting files before they are held to ransom (known as ransomware, whereby a ransom has to be paid to get ownership of your data again). The important thing is to not panic and contact a security specialist such as Akita asap.

How do Akita handle support issues?

This partially depends on how our clients are set up and what works best for them. For some organisations, support calls are filtered by line managers or super-users. This can reduce the ongoing support costs but can mean that two (or more!) employees are unproductive, as opposed to one. For other organisations, users contact Akita directly in the event of a support issue and this can be logged by email or phone. Depending on the nature of the issue and the guaranteed response time required, the incident will either be dealt with immediately or in line with the Service Level Agreement parameters. Of course, our helpdesk team are committed to resolving issues as quickly and efficiently as possible as it is accepted that this is what we are judged upon!
